Arroz con gandules

16oz bag of frozen Gandules

1/3 cup of Canola Oil

¼ lb of Salted Pork (diced)

¼ lb of Cooking Ham (diced)

2 heaping tbsp of Freakin Rican Sofrito

6 cloves garlic mashed

1 envelope of sazon

½ tsp Oregano

½ tsp Cumin

1 ½ tbsp Salt

¼ tsp Ground Pepper

¼ cup Tomato Sauce

3 cups Extra Long-Grain Rice

3 cups Water

¼ cup sliced Green Spanish Olives

2-3 Bay Leaves

Place the frozen gandules in a small pot with 1 ½ cup water. Cover with lid tilted so it has room

to steam out and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes on medium flame. Now get your larger

pot . Turn on your stove to a medium flame . Add oil let it heat up for a minute . Continue to

add salted pork as well as the cooking ham and garlic. Let that sautéed for 5-7 minutes then

begin to add Sofrito, sazon,oregano,cumin,salt,pepper,tomato sauce, stir everything together

then add the gandules with the water is was cooking in. Stir everything well . Now its time to

add the water as well as the rice . Give a stir or two add olives as well as bay leaves. Let the rice

cook for about 15minutes . Now stir the rice and create a mountain. Then place banana

leaves in the pot to cover rice. Place the lid on and let the rice cook for about a

additional 20 minutes.. Weepa your done.
